2020: Maren Kames & Sivan Ben Yishai
»ANNIES. EIN GESANGLICHES KONZERT«
Writer and translator meet in this year’s Droste Lecture: for the first time, playwright Sivan Ben Yishai and poet Maren Kames co-write a text. Starting from Droste-Hülshoff’s (lack of ) belief in herself, the writers bring together language and symbiosis, collaboration and war, whiny dogs and depressed poets.
The Droste Festival 2020 is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Patron of the festival is the Minister of State for International Cultural Policy, Michelle Müntefering.
Presented by Der Freitag and taz.
2019: ICW – Institut für chauvinistische Weiterbildung
The institution for chauvinistic qualification was founded in 2017 by the authors Katja Brunner, Daniela Janjić, Gerhild Steinbuch, Darja Stocker und Ivna Žic to deal with fragments of patriarchal power. In the context of the Droste Lectures they have developed a feminist showroom in cooperation with the musician and artist Anna Kohlweis. They perform Droste’s appeal to her female writing colleagues and intellectual friends to acknowledge the importance and the significance of their own work.
The Droste Festival 2019 is supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as well as by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Droste-Forum e.V..
2018: Liat Fassberg, Barbara Köhler and Tilman Rammstedt
Three writers read/re-read famous poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. They pick up on her language, her topics, her views, and translate them into their own worlds. Tilman Rammstedt, Barbara Köhler and Liat Fassberg also perform their texts in the Droste Museum; in a speedy reading, a slide show, and a multi-lingual experiment.
Everything is just, / so fucking almost. / Forever and ever / and ever.
— Liat Fassberg
