Tilman Rammstedt was born in Bielefeld in 1975 and studied philosophy and literature.
He has received numerous awards for his books, the short story collection Erledigungen vor der Feier (2003) and the novels Wir bleiben in der Nähe (2005), Der Kaiser von China (2008), Die Abenteuer meines ehemaligen Bankberaters (2012), and Morgen mehr (2016), including the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, the Annette von Droste Hülshoff Prize, and most recently the LiteraTour Nord Prize.
He has also written several plays, most recently Raushauen (2017), and is the lyricist and musician of the group "Fön," with whom he has published two CDs and a joint book. Tilman Rammstedt lives in Berlin.
