Senthuran Varatharajah, born in 1984 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, studied philosophy, Protestant theology, and comparative religion and cultural studies in Marburg, Berlin, and London. In 2016, his multiple award-winning debut novel Before the Signs Increase was published by S. Fischer Verlag. In 2022 the equally priced novel Rot (Hunger) followed at the same publisher. Senthuran Varatharajah lives in Berlin.
