Ottmar Ette was born in the Black Forest in 1956. He received his doctorate in 1990 from the University of Freiburg i. Br. with a thesis on José Martí and habilitated in 1995 at the Catholic University of Eichstätt on Roland Barthes. Since October 1995, he has held the Chair of Romance Literary Studies at the University of Potsdam. His Venia Legendi covers Romance Literatures as well as General and Comparative Literature.
