Norwin Tharayil studied German language and literature, history and literary writing in Basel and Hildesheim. He_she works alone and in collaborations at the intersection of poetry, performance and music. In 2023 Norwin released his debut album A CASE OF PARANOIA (with Ivan Eyes) as Elfrid The Third. His work has recently been shown at Kaserne Basel, Migrosmuseum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich and Khoj Studios in New Delhi. Norwin lives in Berlin.
Norwin's works deal with the mutations of late capitalism and the accompanying erosion of the individual, with relationships and labour. Most recently, he_she has dealt with more historical subjects, such as the dancer Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, whose fictional character Mata Hari became famous in the early 20th century.
