Maxi Obexer, playwright and author, grew up in South Tyrol, Italy. She lives in Berlin.
Obexer studied general and comparative literature, philosophy and theater studies in Vienna and Berlin.
In 2016, she received the Robert Geisendörfer Prize, the Eurodram Prize, and the 2017 Potsdam Theater Prize for Gehen und Bleiben for her multiple political works such as Illegal Helpers. In fall 2017, her novel essay Europas längster Sommer was published. Her play Wenn wir lieben premiered at the Mannheim Staatstheater in February 2018.
Maxi Obexer has taught at Georgetown University in Washington DC., Dartmouth College NH, Berlin University of the Arts, and the German Literature Institute Leipzig, among others. In 2014 she founded the New Institute for Dramatic Writing with Sasha Marianna Salzmann, Nids popup:yes.
