Karen Duve, born in Hamburg in 1961, lives in Märkische Schweiz. She has been awarded numerous prizes. Her novels Regenroman (1999), Dies ist kein Liebeslied (2002) and Taxi (2008) were bestsellers and have been translated into 14 languages. In 2011 her self-experiment Anständig essen was published, in 2014 her polemic Warum die Sache schiefgeht. The film adaptation of her novel Taxi was released in 2015. In 2016, she caused a stir with her novel Macht and was awarded the Kassel Literature Prize for Grotesque Humor (2017). For her novel Fräulein Nettes kurzer Sommer (2018), Karen Duve was awarded the Carl Amery Prize, the Düsseldorf Literature Prize, and the Solothurn Literature Prize.
