Annie Rutherford, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1989, is a translator and writer working as deputy director of StAnza, the international poetry festival in Scotland. She straddles the interface between the German and British literary scenes. Annie hosts Free Verse(e), an occasional podcast about queer poetry, and is fiction editor at the literary magazine The Interpreter's House. Her own translations are devoted primarily to poetry from German and have included translations of Nora Gomringer, Kinga Toth, Maren Kames, and Levin Westermann. Her translated books include Nora Gomringer's Hydra's Heads, Isabel Bogdan's novel The Peacock, and Volha Hapeyeva's Lyric in My Garden of Mutants (from Belarusian).
