Ani Kayode Somtochukwu is an award-winning Nigerian writer and queer liberation activist. His work interrogates themes of queer identity, resistance and liberation, and has been shortlisted for the 2020 ALCS TOM-Gallon Trust Award and the 2022 Toyin Falola Prize. He was a finalist for the 2020 Nigerian Prize for Difference and Diversity, and won the 2019 SOGIESC Rights Activist of the Year Award presented by The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs). His debut novel, And Then He Sang a Lullaby, was awarded the 2021 James Currey Prize for African Literature, and will be published by Roxane Gay Books in June 2023.
