Long Friday with poetry performance at Rüschhaus

The Long Friday in July takes place at Haus Rüschhaus and is dedicated to Intelligente Allmende. The walk-in installation in the Rüschhaus garden combines sign language poetry, nature and technology. Poetry by hearing and deaf artists will appear on screens: Based on the poem Im Moose by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Rafael-Evitan Grombelka, Anna Hetzer, Tim Holland and Kassandra Wedel have created new poems and translated them into text and sign language poetry. The poetries are juxtaposed with images of plants. They are the result of an image-generating machine learning algorithm fed with historical images of plants from Drostes' library. The interior of the Orangerie houses an artificial garden and becomes a walk-in neural network. The plant-like objects made of silicone and ceramics react via sensors to the movement of the visitors. Water starts to bubble, the house begins to breathe and the pace of the machine-generated plants changes on the video screens.

On Long Friday, a poetry performance will take place at 7 pm. Rafael-Evitan Grombelka and Kassandra Wedel will perform sign language poetry. Afterwards there will be a conversation between Anna Hetzer and Tim Holland.
