Double, double toil and trouble... The Dead Ladies Show presents women of yesteryear who achieved great things or led fascinating lives. A storytelling séance of sorts! This time, Susan Stone has the details on Helen Duncan, aka "Hellish Nell", a Scottish medium and the last person locked up under the Witchcraft Act of 1735 – as late as 1944. Katy Derbyshire brings along Anna Göldi, a Swiss housemaid accused of witchcraft and hanged in 1782. And Esra Canpalat will lighten the mood, let’s hope, with the story of Leyla Erbil, the first Turkish writer nominated for the Nobel Prize. The show takes place mainly in German, mixed with English and perhaps a dash of Turkish here and there. Maybe it’ll inspire you?
